I did some research on the web to see if there were any unbiased ratings, comparisons or reviews on debt consolidators a.k.a.consumer credit counselors. I did find one here: http://www.lendersrated.com/index.htm...

You can use lendingtree.com. They are really good. Does that person have any military service time in? Let me know cause if they do then there is someone that they can use and they will automatically get it.

If the person owns a home, look into a home equity loan. Before consolidating, be sure they are on a budget and are not going further in debt. The worst thing they can do is consolidate and then run up more debt.
